Isaac's surge still danger for Louisiana

Parts of Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana are still under water tonight three days after Hurricane Issac hit the state.

The Braithwaite levees in the parish were built to withstand tidal waters, not storm surge, and that means there is no where for the floodwater to drain out to relieve the area. Parish President Billy Nungesser said parish officials would check the back levee, which is a second line of defense, and determine where to punch holes, which would allow the flood waters to be able to flow out of the residential area and into the marshland.

Today in a news conference on CNN affiliate WWL, Nungesser said, "We will cut the levee in as many as ten spots on each side to get water out as quickly as possible." He added, "We'll have to do that for several days, it may take as long as a week to get the majority of that water off the highway."

CNN's Brian Todd report on a couple that perished during the storm, and gives an update on the flooding situation in Plaquemines Parish and Isaac's aftermath.
